Easter in the Worms Tiergarten

Easter is a central family date at the Tiergarten Worms. While Easter does not play its own role in larger Worms events such as the Backfischfest or the Kulturnacht, it is the opening date of the intensive spring and summer season for the Tiergarten. Worms families bring their children to the Tiergarten on the Easter weekend and the following school holidays — and find a program there that expands the Tiergarten visit with Easter search tasks and encounters.

Easter egg hunt as tour format

The Easter egg hunt is designed as a tour format: small tasks are distributed at various stations in the Tiergarten — quiz questions about the animals, symbols to find, small wooden or paper eggs with imprints. At the entrance, children receive a map with an overview and a stamp or search pass that is filled out at the stations. Anyone who has completely filled out the card gets a small surprise at the exit.

Easter Bunny in person on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday

On Easter Sunday (April 5th, 2026) and Easter Monday (April 6th, 2026), the Easter Bunny personally visits the Tiergarten. Equipped in a costume, he moves through the zoo grounds, lets children photograph him and distributes small gifts — usually chocolate or small natural-material gifts from the Tiergarten workshop. The format is particularly popular with children and with parents who are looking for both an active and nature-close family program at Easter.

Year-end event of the circle of friends on March 28th

The circle of friends of the Tiergarten Worms traditionally holds its year-end event on the Saturday before the Easter egg hunt — in 2026 on March 28th. Members meet, the board reports on the past year, new projects are presented, a joint brunch or coffee-and-cake appointment concludes the event. The circle of friends is an important supporter of the Tiergarten work and supports the institution financially, voluntarily and ideologically.

Embedded in the Worms family spring season

The Easter egg hunt is a must-attend date in the spring calendar for many Worms families. It opens a series of Tiergarten formats that continues through the Midsummer Night (St. John's Night) on June 19th, the summer festival on June 28th and the Day of the Fire Salamander on September 3rd.
