Thomanerchor — 800 Years of Tradition
The Thomanerchor zu Leipzig is one of the oldest boys' choirs in Germany and one of the most renowned worldwide. From 1723 to 1750, Johann Sebastian Bach was Thomaskantor — the choir's tradition is inextricably linked with his work. To this day, the choir cultivates sacred repertoire with a focus on Bach, Mendelssohn, and the tradition of Protestant church music.
Alexanderkirche as a Concert Venue
The Alexanderkirche Wildeshausen is the central city church and, with its historic interior, a recognized concert venue. Its acoustics are particularly suitable for choral music with small to medium-sized ensembles. With the performance of the Thomanerchor, the Alexanderkirche becomes the stage for a nationally significant musical event.
40 Years of Kulturkreis Wildeshausen
The Kulturkreis Wildeshausen celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2026. Since its founding in the 1980s, it has been committed to providing a rich concert program in Wildeshausen — from chamber music and choral concerts to larger symphony concerts in cooperation with other organizations. The Thomanerchor performance is the flagship event of its anniversary year.
