The motto “Culinary and art with bite and awareness” summarizes the festival's programmatic dual focus: it's not just about enjoyment and artistic pleasure, but also about the social backgrounds of nutrition, consumption, and cultural creation. Sustainable nutrition, fair trade, and a conscious relationship with consumption and culture are at the center.

Program at various venues

The festival uses various venues in Kaiserslautern's city center: restaurants and cultural sites present special events, galleries show exhibitions on the festival theme, the Kammgarn, the Fruchthalle, and other locations offer films, readings, and music programs. The thematic bracket holds the different formats together.

Prologue and Main Program

The prologue on January 24th, 2026, kicks off the festival with a special opening program. The main program runs from January 27th to 29th with concentrated events over three days. This structure allows both visitors who only want to attend individual events and festival pilgrims who want to experience the entire program to find a suitable access.

In 2026, Kaiserslautern celebrates its 750th city birthday. The Food & Art Festival is part of the comprehensive anniversary program under the 750kl umbrella. The festival is one of the first major program points in the anniversary year and marks the start of a year-round cultural program celebrating the city and its history.
