Thiersheim is a historically shaped market town in the Wunsiedel district of the Fichtelgebirge (Upper Franconia). With just over 1,600 inhabitants, Thiersheim belongs to the so-called Sechsämterland — a historical administrative unit in the northern Bavarian border region with Saxony and Bohemia. For years, the Bürgerfest has been the marker for the start of summer in the town.
