TARGOBANK Run — Company Run Meets City Festival

The TARGOBANK Run Duisburg has been one of the largest and best-organized company and city runs in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2007. On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the 19th edition will take place starting at 7:00 PM — the start and finish are at Opernplatz directly at the Theater der Stadt Duisburg. Before the main run, the Bambini run for the youngest participants starts at 6:00 PM.

Route and Format

The 5.2 km long route leads through Duisburg's city center — a flat, fast circuit with central points:

• Start: Opernplatz (Theater Duisburg)
• Landfermannstraße towards Rathaus
• Loop through the city center
• Past the Innenhafen (Inner Harbor)
• Back to the Theater (Finish)

Route markers at kilometer intervals. In terms of racing time, the route is a fun run — optimizing for best times is possible, but the main emphasis is on team spirit and celebrating the city.

Team Concept

The TARGOBANK Run is primarily designed as a company run:

• Each team designates a Team Captain who coordinates the registration
• Participants register through the Captain
• Teams can be companies, clubs, university groups, sports groups
• Registration fee: €22 + VAT (until August 5), late registration August 6–19 €27 + VAT

Includes: Hydration, finisher medal, certificate, team photo.

After-Run Party and Fireworks

After crossing the finish line (approx. 7:45–8:00 PM), the large After-Run Party opens with live music, a show act, and food and drinks in front of the theater. The highlight is the fireworks around 10:00 PM — a classic city spectacle that transforms the run into an evening summer festival. The supporting program runs from approx. 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Duisburg — Rhine City with a Sporting Tradition

Duisburg (around 502,000 inhabitants) is the fifth-largest city in North Rhine-Westphalia at the confluence of the Rhine and Ruhr rivers. Opernplatz and the Theater der Stadt Duisburg are located directly in the city center, next to the Königsgalerien shopping center. The TARGOBANK Run utilizes this central location, turning the city center into a mix of sports arena and city festival for one evening.
