Krummin on the Island of Usedom

Krummin is located on the Krumminer Wiek, a tranquil Bodden bay in the northwest of the island of Usedom (Vorpommern-Greifswald district). The village is small, but the Wiek is scenically impressive — reed belt, water, wide sky. The late Gothic brick church of St. Michael stands on the outskirts of the village and is a regular venue for the Usedom Music Festival.

Usedom Music Festival

The Usedom Music Festival is one of the most important classical music festivals on the German Baltic Sea coast. Each year, the festival dedicates itself to a "Country Focus" from the Baltic Sea region; the 2026 season highlights Sweden. Concerts take place in churches, in the power plant of the Peenemünde Museum, in hotels, and on the island's beaches.

Niklas Sivelöv

Niklas Sivelöv is a Swedish concert pianist and composer, professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. His international repertoire ranges from Bach through Romanticism to Modernism, supplemented by his own compositions. On Usedom, he takes on the program title »Swedish Summer's End« — a concertante connection to the festival's country focus.

St. Michael's Church as a Concert Venue

The acoustics of the brick church are warm and focused; for piano concerts, a grand piano is moved into the chancel. Those arriving from the hinterland often combine the concert with a walk along the Krumminer Wiek or dinner in the village.
