Open-Air Summer Concert in the Franconian Village Center

The Summernightrock is a beloved summer concert format of the Musikverein Kist-Altertheim e.V. On the village square of the municipality of Kist in the Würzburg district, state of Bavaria, the music association invites you to an evening of rock cover bands and live music under the open sky in July. Over the years, the event has gained a loyal regular audience from the region southwest of Würzburg.

Concert Evening with a Club Character

Unlike commercial festivals, the members of the Musikverein Kist-Altertheim organize the entire event themselves: stage setup, technical equipment, bar service, catering. Regional rock and cover bands alternate on stage; the audience enjoys Franconian beer, bratwurst from the grill, steaks, fries, and pretzels. Admission is affordable, and an official festival character is not the primary focus – Summernightrock is understood as a cozy village event for the entire region.

Traditional Music Association as Organizer

The Musikverein Kist-Altertheim is a brass band association active for over four decades, musically connecting the two neighboring communities of Kist and Altertheim. In addition to Summernightrock, the association organizes spring concerts, advent concerts, Maypole raising, and Kirchweih (church fair) performances. The image galleries on the association's website document Summernightrock editions at least since 2008.

Venue: Kist Village Square

The village square of Kist is centrally located in the town, surrounded by inns, the town hall, and the church. This compact Franconian village backdrop with sandstone houses and linden trees in the background forms the ideal stage for an evening summer concert – a local experience that cannot be replicated by any big-city open-air stage. With its location about 12 km southwest of Würzburg, Kist is easily accessible by public transport and car.
