Summer in the City – Zell Summer Season

While the major Mosel wine festivals attract thousands of visitors on specific weekends throughout the year, the Summer in the City series creates a continuous presence of live music in Zell's Old Town all summer long. The idea is simple and effective: on the first and third Thursday of each month from May to September, a venue in the Old Town hosts a concert – sometimes the Mosel promenade, sometimes the market square, sometimes a courtyard garden, sometimes a bar with an outdoor area. The changing locations ensure that the series always feels fresh and allows visitors to experience the different facets of the town.

The programming focuses on local and regional artists. Singer-songwriters from the Mosel region, cover bands with Pop and Rock programs, Jazz trios from the Hunsrück, Schlager soloists from Saarland, and individual Folk or Brass acts shape the individual evenings. This gives the series a dual character: it serves as a concert format for guests and simultaneously as a stage for the local music scene, providing them with regular performance opportunities.

Concerts usually start at 7:30 PM and end around 10:30 PM. Admission is free; food and drinks are provided by local restaurateurs, thus supporting Zell's gastronomy scene. Those who wish to attend multiple dates can use the series as a summer ritual – spending every first and third Thursday evening in the Old Town, enjoying wine, small snacks, and live music. The exact dates and artists for the 2026 season will be published by the City of Zell (Mosel) in the spring.
