Sommerfest Cunewalde — Village community in the mountain region

Cunewalde in the Bautzen district is a state-recognized resort town at the foot of the Czorneboh, a prominent mountain in the Oberlausitzer Bergland. In the town itself, the Cunewalde church dominates the scenery — one of the largest village churches in Central Europe. The summer festival of the AWO Kita "Wichtelland" is one of the many small community festivals that hold the social fabric together in this region.

Three hours of festival activities in the afternoon: hands-on stations for children, performances by the Wichtelland children, coffee and cake for the adults, plus parents, grandparents, and neighbors from Cunewalde and the surrounding area. Unlike the large city festivals of the Upper Lusatia, the summer festival is primarily aimed at the families of the kindergarten children — but all other guests are welcome.

Cunewalde and the Oberlausitzer Bergland

Cunewalde lies in the valley between Czorneboh, Bieleboh, and Mönchswalder Berg — one of the most beautiful landscapes in southern Upper Lusatia. In summer, hikers and cyclists come to the valley; the summer festival falls during the time when the mountain region shows its greenest face.
