Food trucks and live bands on the Messeplatz – free entry
In August 2026, the Messeplatz Kaiserslautern will once again transform into an international street food mile with a live stage program. The event, organized by Dortmund-based JUST Festivals GmbH, has been established in Kaiserslautern for years and complements the competing event by Street Food Festival GmbH, held in May, creating a double street food season in the city. The key difference: admission to the summer festival is free.
The selection of food trucks covers a broad spectrum. Asian cuisine (Bao, Sushi, Korean BBQ), Latin American specialties (Tacos, Empanadas, Arepas), Caribbean dishes, Mediterranean cuisine (Pizza, Tapas), American classics (Burgers, Pulled Pork, BBQ), as well as vegetarian and vegan street food are represented. Sweet stalls with crêpes, ice cream, churros, and donuts complete the offering.
Unlike pure food truck formats, Street Food & Music explicitly focuses on a accompanying concert program. Over the three days, around five live bands will perform alternately on a main stage, making the festival an acoustic experience as well. The spectrum typically ranges from rock and pop cover bands to soul and funk ensembles and regional newcomers.
The Messeplatz Kaiserslautern, located in the western part of the city, is ideal for such a festival with its large open space and central location between the city center and residential areas. Around 9,000 visitors are expected over the weekend. Seating in the form of beer benches, high tables, and straw bale lounges, along with a festival bar, make the stay comfortable. The event is family-friendly and aimed at all age groups.
