Three days of culinary world tour at the East Frisian shrimp cutter harbour
Within just a few years, the Street Food Festival Greetsiel has become a firm fixture in the Krummhörn's late summer calendar. The event combines the growing popularity of the international street food scene with the unique atmosphere of the Greetsiel harbour. Instead of sterile festival grounds in car parks or exhibition centres, the festival takes place here amidst a vibrant, historic fishing village, lending it a charm that comparable events in cities cannot achieve.
The focus of the festival is on culinary diversity. The organisers specifically invite vendors who practice their craft at a high level while also bringing originality. Typically represented are:
To accompany the food trucks, several bar stands offer cocktails, craft beers, wines, and non-alcoholic specialities. A small stage provides musical accompaniment – usually acoustic singer-songwriter sets or small bands that don't disturb the relaxed festival atmosphere but enhance it. Tables and benches are generously distributed; many visitors simply sit on the quay edge and enjoy their food with a view of the harbour basin.
The festival is explicitly aimed at all age groups. Families with children will find a diverse offering – no child has to settle for fries or pizza; if they want, they can try a chicken bao, a vegan bowl, or a poffertje with vanilla sauce. Allergy sufferers are also increasingly catered for: gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegan options are signposted at most trucks.
The 2026 festival continues the successful concept. The organisers curate the vendor selection with a focus on culinary diversity – duplications are largely avoided, and new trucks complement the regular roster from previous years.
The detailed programme for 2026 (vendors, music, times) will be published by the organiser in late summer 2026. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
