International street artists, performers, and clowns for three days
The International Street Culture Festival Nordhorn has existed since the early nineties and, with its 35th edition in 2026, is one of the most well-established festivals of its kind in Northern Germany. The cultural department of the City of Nordhorn has been curating the program for decades, bringing acts from multiple continents to the Lower Saxony border town each year.
Over the three days, the city center of Nordhorn becomes an open stage. Street artists perform on central squares, in alleys, and at intersections — acrobats, jugglers, clowns, mimes, musicians, comedy acts. The performances are free to attend and follow a schedule communicated via the official website and the festival booklet.
Parallel to the free program in the city center, several variety shows take place in the circus tent. Here, selected acts perform in a curated show that professionally combines stage performance, lighting design, and musical direction. These performances are ticketed and aimed at guests who want to experience the festival in a concentrated form.
A dedicated family gala brings together acts that work particularly well for a young audience. With children's comedy, acrobatics, interactive stations, and short show segments, the gala offers a compact festival introduction for families with younger children.
For years, the program has focused on international acts. Artists from France, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Latin America, Asia, and Eastern Europe shape the festival's image. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the cultural department in the summer.
Tickets for the circus tent and the family gala are available in advance through the City of Nordhorn and usual ticket outlets. The open-air performances in the city center are free to access.
The 2026 edition adheres to the established three-day format. Friday opens the festival with a reduced program in the evening, while Saturday and Sunday run all day with a dense program in the city center and at the circus tent.
The cultural department of the City of Nordhorn selects artists based on clearly defined quality criteria. This distinguishes the festival from purely open street artist formats and positions it as a curated festival with international ambitions.
The detailed program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
