Strandleuchten Burhave — Light Art on the North Sea Beach

The Strandleuchten Burhave is a relatively young, but already well-established light art event on the Lower Saxony North Sea coast. The tourism officials of the municipality of Butjadingen transform Burhave's beach into a walkable art promenade of light, fire, and music once a year in October. With great public success: the second edition in 2024 already attracted thousands of visitors.

Date in the Golden October

In 2026, the light festival will take place on Saturday, October 17, from 6 PM to 10 PM — the golden October offers the ideal mix of pleasant temperatures, early darkness, and a calm, autumnal beach atmosphere. The event begins at dusk and unfolds its full effect in the darkness.

Art Promenade from Wattensteg to KITEBROTHERS

The venue is the beach promenade between Wattensteg and KITEBROTHERS. Along the way, light installations will be created — from luminous art objects and projected image worlds to interactive light elements. The artists use the natural backdrop of mudflats, water, and sky as a stage for their productions.

Fire Artists and Live Music

Additionally, fire artists will perform, whose shows bring impressive warmth and dynamism to the cool autumn night. Live music — mostly acoustic or electronic ambient — accompanies the event and creates a special atmosphere. The combination of light, fire, music, and the maritime natural setting results in a unique sensory experience.

Experience for the Whole Family

The Strandleuchten Burhave is an experience for families, couples, and anyone looking for an unusual autumn evening on the North Sea. The short beach stretch is easily walkable; warm clothing is recommended. Food stalls at the beginning and end of the promenade provide hot drinks and small snacks.

Free Admission

Admission to the light festival is free. The event is organized and financed by the Tourismus-Service Butjadingen.
