Wine festival with wine tasting in St. Anna Church, guided wine hike, and village festival in Bacharach's Steeg district
The Steeger Weinblütenfest is one of the characteristic early summer festivals in the Middle Rhine Valley. It takes place every year in June in the Steeg district of Bacharach, when the vines around the famous Steeger St. Jost vineyard are in full bloom.
The festive opening takes place on Friday evening with a wine tasting in the Gothic St. Anna Church. The church, an important testament to late Gothic architecture in the Middle Rhine Valley, serves as an extraordinary tasting room. Steeg vintners present their Rieslings, Pinot Noirs, and other wines in the special acoustics of the nave. The tasting with expert guidance can be booked for a fee of approximately 25 Euros.
On Saturday morning, a guided wine hike through the Steeg vineyards is on the program. The hike leads through the famous Steeger St. Jost vineyard and other small steep slopes with magnificent views of the Rhine Valley. Wines from participating vintners are served at several stations, and the history and characteristics of the sites are explained. The hike can also be booked for a fee (approx. 25 Euros including tasting).
On Saturday and Sunday evenings, the festival moves to the village community center: Here, the Steeg associations and vintners set up stalls, serve wine and Federweißer (new wine), offer hearty specialties, and create a lively atmosphere with live music. The village festival is open to everyone, and a shuttle service connects Steeg with neighboring towns, ensuring safe arrival and departure.
The Weinblütenfest is designed as a family-friendly festival supported by the village community. It offers an authentic insight into the wine culture of the Middle Rhine and the way of life in a wine-growing village within the UNESCO World Heritage site.
The 2026 edition combines the three classic elements of the Steeger Weinblütenfest: a church wine tasting as a festive opening, a wine hike through the steep slopes with views of the Rhine Valley, and a convivial village festival on the weekend.
The wine tasting and hike are subject to a fee (approx. 25 Euros each), while the village festival is freely accessible; food and drinks are paid for on site. Shuttle service between Steeg, Bacharach, and neighboring towns is organized.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
