Stadtwerke Bochum Half Marathon 2026 — The city center runs

On Sunday, September 6, 2026, the Bermuda3Eck in the heart of Bochum's city center will be the start and finish area for one of the most popular city runs in the Ruhr area. The Stadtwerke Bochum Half Marathon brings together half marathon professionals, hobby runners, school relays, and families with Bambini in a weekend format that draws thousands to and along the course every year around Viktoriastraße.

Distances and Start Times

The schedule is clearly staggered so that all distances can run smoothly on the course:

• 8:30 AM — Stage program before the start
• 9:00 AM — Start Half Marathon, USB Half Marathon Relay, and School Relay
• 11:40 AM — Finish deadline Half Marathon and Relay
• 11:55 AM — Start 5 km run
• 12:30 PM — Start 10 km run
• 1:50 PM — Finish deadline 5 km and 10 km
• 2:00 PM — Start Children's run
• 2:20 PM — Start Bambini run

Organizer and Tradition

Organized by TV Wattenscheid 01 Leichtathletik e.V. — one of Germany's most traditional athletics clubs with numerous Olympic athletes in its history. Main sponsor and namesake: Stadtwerke Bochum. Other sponsors: VIACTIV Krankenkasse, PUMA, and numerous local companies.

Running Meet for 20 Years with LGO Bochum

A special feature of the Bochum Half Marathon: the preparation running meet, which takes place from May 12, 2026, in cooperation with LGO Bochum — a partnership celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2026. Those who have never run a half marathon can prepare for the event here.

Bermuda3Eck — City Run in an Urban Atmosphere

The Bermuda3Eck is Bochum's liveliest downtown area — three streets (Brüderstraße, Kortumstraße, Viktoriastraße) form a triangle with numerous bars, restaurants, and clubs. It's perfect as a start and finish area for a city run: short distances from Bochum Central Station, an urban, pulsating backdrop, and wide street space for thousands of runners.

Bochum — University City in the Ruhr Area

The independent city of Bochum, with its approximately 370,000 inhabitants, is one of the central major cities of the Ruhr area. Worth seeing are the German Mining Museum, the Schauspielhaus Bochum (theater), and the Bochum-Dahlhausen Railway Museum. With the Ruhr University Bochum as one of the largest universities in Germany, the city has a young, sports-enthusiastic population — and this mix makes the Stadtwerke Half Marathon a popular run that brings together hobby runners, students, and elite athletes.
