Beach in the Middle of the City Centre

The Stadtstrand Westerstede is a concept successfully implemented in many North German city centres — with particular charm in Westerstede: sand, deckchairs, palm trees, a stage, and a bar in the middle of the historic Alter Markt. The event is organised by the town of Westerstede and its city marketing department.

2026 Edition — Five Weeks of Summer

The 2026 edition runs from Friday, August 7, to Sunday, September 13, 2026. The event opens during the city festival on August 7; a varied supporting programme follows on subsequent weekends and selected weekdays.

Programme and Atmosphere

The supporting programme includes live music, cultural events, and sports activities. Typical programme items from previous years include: acoustic sessions, salsa evenings, beach volleyball tournaments, morning yoga sessions, film nights, and children's activities. The stage is open daily for participation by clubs, schools, and music groups from the Ammerland region.

Meeting Point for All Generations

During the day, the Stadtstrand is a meeting point for families, seniors, and strollers, in the evening for after-work crowds, and on weekends for the entire region. Free admission — you only pay for drinks and food at the bar. Those who want to get involved can apply to host their own programme contributions.
