STADTRADELN — Nationwide Campaign
STADTRADELN is an international climate protection campaign coordinated by the Climate Alliance since 2008. Municipalities from over 25 countries participate; in Germany, several thousand cities and towns are regularly represented. The goal is to cover as many everyday journeys as possible by bicycle within a continuous three-week period, record the results via apps and web forms, and make the importance of cycling visible.
Ninth Worms Participation
In 2026, the city of Worms is participating for the ninth time, clearly demonstrating how firmly the initiative is anchored in local climate protection efforts. The administration organizes registration, coordinates teams from administration, schools, clubs, and companies, and ensures an attractive accompanying program.
Kick-off Ride and Visibility
The event begins with a kick-off ride from the Diesterweg primary school to the Worms Marktplatz, with classes, clubs, and citizens participating. The opening also features the introduction of new public bicycle service stations throughout the city — such as pump, tool, and repair points — which will be permanently available to the public.
Playful Participation
A treasure hunt with distinctive green bicycles and QR codes distributes clues throughout the city, playfully encouraging participation. Over 1,200 registrations by early May indicate the growing acceptance of the initiative. The program is supported by local stakeholders such as the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) and political initiatives.
