Town Festival in the Niedergrafschaft

Neuenhaus is located in the western part of the Grafschaft Bentheim and is the headquarters of the Samtgemeinde of the same name. With its historic castle complex, the Vechte river, and a well-established city center, the town offers a charming setting for a town festival that has established itself as a reliable date in the August calendar for years. Hauptstraße and Veldhausener Straße form the central festival axis, along which stages, stalls, and activity stations are distributed.

Saturday from early to late

Saturday, August 29th, runs from 8 AM to midnight. The early start allows for the setup of a weekly market or weekend flea market in the morning, followed by stage programs in the afternoon and an evening festival with live music. The fireworks at the Mühlenkolk are among the highlights of Saturday, using the water surface as a visual stage. A torchlight procession complements the nocturnal spectacle.

Sunday with Duck Race

Sunday, August 30th, runs from 8 AM to 6 PM. The highlight is the duck race—a classic charity race where numbered rubber ducks are released onto the Vechte river, and the order of crossing the finish line determines the prizes. Families love this format, and the proceeds from the sale of the ducks often go to social projects in the Samtgemeinde.

Bummelpass and City Center Promotion

With a 'Bummelpass', visitors can use several attractions, carousels, and catering offers at a discount. The pass concept combines the festival program with the city center's economy and creates additional incentives for longer stays.

Sponsorship and Commitment

The Samtgemeinde Neuenhaus organizes the Stadtfest, and local clubs support the program on-site. Shooting clubs, heritage societies, sports clubs, and carnival clubs are involved in the stalls, stage moderation, and logistics. This makes the festival a communal project of the town's society.
