Bürstadt Celebrates Its Town

The Stadtfest Bürstadt is the major weekend event of the southern Hessian municipality in the Bergstraße district – nestled between the Rhine at Worms and the Lampertheim forest. For three days, the city center around the market square transforms into a continuous festival mile with stages, food stalls, and amusement rides.

Opening with Keg Tapping

The Bürstadt original kicks things off on Friday evening: the keg tapping ceremony by the Sun Ambassador Michelle I., accompanied by the marching band of the Bürstadt Volunteer Fire Department. Even earlier, the International Children's Day has been in full swing in the community center since the afternoon with games and hands-on activities.

Cover Bands from the Region

Musically, the city festival focuses on cover bands from the Rhine-Neckar region: District Lounge (trio with vocals, piano, drums) and The Groove Generation (8-piece cover band) on Friday, Small Town Maniax, FizzGin, and the Legendary Ghetto Dance Band on Saturday. Rock, Pop, Funk, and Soul are on the program – dance floor guaranteed.

Family Day on Sunday

Sunday is all about families: starting with the Ecumenical Service at 10 a.m., followed by the Brass Band Biblis, church music, dance performances by Bürstadt clubs, and the popular "Rock4Kids" program. On the funfair: swing boats, bungee trampolines, children's carousel, and new in 2026, the attraction Caribbean Star.

Three Days, One Town

The town of Bürstadt – with around 16,000 inhabitants – is conveniently located between Worms, Lampertheim, and Bensheim. The city festival is the most important in-house event in the municipal cultural calendar, alongside the Sunshine Parade and the Asparagus Market.

Sunshine Tradition

Bürstadt's landmark is the "Sunshine Ambassador" – an ambassador tradition of the town, cultivated for decades and linked to the local Sunshine campaign. Michelle I. serves as ambassador in 2026 and will perform the festival-opening keg tapping. This tradition distinguishes the Bürstadt City Festival from many other Hessian city festivals and gives the opening ceremony its own unique character.
