Young City Festival with a Big Splash

The Stadtfest Bad Neustadt an der Saale debuted in 2025 as a supporting program for the Bavarian BR-Radltour – the entire city center of the Lower Franconian district town transformed into a festival mile with six stages, a children's and family program, culinary offerings, experience areas, and prominent guests. In its first year, organizers reported several tens of thousands of visitors. In 2026, the Stadtfest will be firmly integrated into the festival calendar of the City of Bad Neustadt and extended to three days, from Thursday to Saturday in midsummer.

Market Square and Old Town Stages

The festival heart beats on the Marktplatz, the historic center with the striking view of the Hohntor gate. Further program points are spread across the old town:

• Marktplatz Main Stage – Headliner concerts, most recently the Bayern 1 Band, and in 2026, the Bayern 3 Band as the Saturday finale at 8 PM.
• Bildhäuser Hof – Children's and family program on Saturday.
• Wine Area – Franconian wineries with jazz combos and acoustic acts (Monkey-Man Band).
• ZOB Festival Area – Large open-air performances.
• Triamare – Beach party on Friday evening after the „Battle of the Districts".

Program Highlights 2026

The focus is on the musical triumvirate of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday:

• Thursday: Jenny and the Gang as headliners on the Marktplatz stage, plus the Monkey-Man Band in the Franconian wine area.
• Friday: Premiere of the „Battle of the Districts" – Bad Neustadt districts compete in entertaining skill games. In the evening, a beach party at Triamare.
• Saturday: Several live stages in the city center, children's program in the Bildhäuser Hof, from 8 PM the Bayern 3 Band on the main stage – the house band of the Bavarian pop station Bayern 3.

Culinary Delights and Wine Culture

Bad Neustadt is located on the edge of the Saale Valley and the Rhön, a region with a distinct wine and wild fruit culture. The festival mile accordingly offers Franconian wines from vintners, apple wines from the Rhön, sausages from a charcoal grill, Rhöner Schäuferla (pork shoulder), Käsespätzle (cheese noodles), and sweet specialties like Rhönschmalznudeln (lard noodles). Several food trucks with international cuisine complement the offerings.

Bad Neustadt and the Rhön

Bad Neustadt an der Saale is the district town of Landkreis Rhön-Grabfeld, Bavaria. With around 16,000 inhabitants, it is the economic center of the Bavarian Rhön; known primarily as a medical hub (Rhön-Klinikum) and as a starting point for tours in the Rhön Biosphere Reserve. The young city festival aims to strengthen the visibility of the old town and attract day-trippers from the entire region.
