Traditional marksmen festival of the Hanseatic City of Stade by the Stade Marksmen Association since 1854
The Stade Marksmen Association e.V. was founded in 1854, making it one of the oldest associations in the Hanseatic City of Stade. Over 170 years of association history shape its identity: a tradition-conscious yet modern association that connects the marksmen's tradition with the city's identity.
The Stade Marksmen Festival spans four days, from Thursday to Sunday, with the fairground open daily from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Thursday features the festival opening, Friday the marksmen's breakfast and dance evening, Saturday brings the King's Shoot and festival parade, and Sunday concludes with Family Day, the children's marksmen festival, and the King's proclamation.
The highlight of the festival is the grand parade on Saturday. The marksmen, marching bands, flag bearers, and friendly associations march from the fairground at Bogenstraße through the old town, past the market square and the Hanseatic harbor, back to the fairground. The citizens of the Hanseatic City line the streets, and many houses are decorated with birch branches and association flags.
The fairground at Bogenstraße is located close to the city center and is within walking distance of the old town. For the festival days, a festival tent, shooting ranges, carousels, food stalls, and a beer garden are set up. Its location in the Hanseatic City of Stade makes the marksmen festival an event that reaches not only the members but the entire community.
The fairground at Bogenstraße has been the site of the Stade Marksmen Festival for decades. A festival tent, shooting ranges, and carousels are set up specifically for the four festival days.
Saturday features the visual highlight with the grand parade. Marching bands, flag bearers, and friendly associations march through the historic old town of the Hanseatic City.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Stade Marksmen Association in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
