Classic Stade Christmas Market at Pferdemarkt with a large Christmas pyramid — open for four Advent weeks
The Hanseatic city of Stade unfolds a special atmosphere during Advent. The half-timbered old town, the historic warehouses on the Hanseatic Old Harbor, and the compact squares create what makes many North German Hanseatic cities attractive Advent destinations. Stade hosts two parallel Christmas markets that complement each other — the classic market at Pferdemarkt and the Harbor Christmas at Fischmarkt.
The Pferdemarkt is the central marketplace of Stade's city center and has been a venue for centuries. During Advent, it becomes the stage for the classic Stade Christmas Market. The open space accommodates the stalls, the lighting, the pyramid, and the festive atmosphere.
The large Christmas pyramid is the landmark of the Stade Christmas Market. Pyramids are part of the Advent tradition of the Ore Mountains but have long found their place in northern Germany as well. With its rotating figures, candles, and wooden art aesthetic, it attracts visitors' attention and serves as the backdrop for countless Advent photos.
The stalls offer classic Christmas market fare: wood crafts and toys, jewelry and arts & crafts, Advent decorations, floristry, mulled wine and punch in several variations, roasted almonds, gingerbread, meringue, chocolate specialties, bratwurst, potato pancakes, crepes, and sweet baked goods.
With opening hours from November 23rd to December 23rd, the market spans the entire Advent period. This makes it accessible for early Advent excursions as well as last-minute visitors shortly before Christmas Eve. The market closes on December 23rd, just in time before Christmas Eve.
Visitors to the Stade Christmas Market often combine their visit with the Harbor Christmas at Fischmarkt. Both markets are just a few minutes' walk apart and offer different atmospheres — Pferdemarkt with its classic market structure and pyramid, and Fischmarkt with its cozy hut atmosphere by the harbor.
Four Advent weeks, the central Stade square, and the Christmas pyramid as a landmark — the market has established itself as a firm Advent destination in western Lower Saxony.
The exact opening hours and accompanying program (Advent concerts, activities) will be published by Stade Marketing.
