Free May programme with theatre, May festival, jazz picnic and cycling experience day in the spa town of Bad Bevensen
Bad Bevensen is a small spa town in the Samtgemeinde Bevensen-Ebstorf, located on the Ilmenau river in the Lüneburg Heath natural region. With its thermal springs, the spa gardens, and its spa clinic infrastructure, Bad Bevensen has been a tourist centre for wellness, health, and relaxation for decades. The Frühlingserwachen is one of the important season-opening events.
The four-day programme from April 30th to May 3rd combines various event formats. This bundling for the May opening creates visibility and positions Bad Bevensen as a culturally active destination.
The Frühlingserwachen begins on Thursday evening with the theatre performance “Helga@Home” at the Kurhaus. Theatre as part of a Volksfest is a special combination and underscores the cultural ambition of the Frühlingserwachen.
May 1st, the traditional Labour Day and Maifest (May festival), is celebrated in Bad Bevensen with a live music programme at Kirchplatz starting at 12 p.m. Freezy Fingers, Bleck City Bandits, and Salt City Swing Band form a diverse lineup with swing, rock, and soul.
On Saturday afternoon from 4 p.m., a jazz picnic with the Swinging Seagulls takes place in the Kurpark. Picnic blankets, jazz sounds, and the green Kurpark — an atmospheric combination that bundles the best of the Bad Bevensen atmosphere. In parallel, a 40-km e-bike tour starts for the more active visitors.
The closing day offers a cycling experience day with various tour options and a Marshmallows swing concert. The combination of outdoor activity and live music on Sunday afternoon provides a relaxed end to the festival.
A special feature is the fact that all Frühlingserwachen programme points are free of charge. This makes the programme accessible to everyone and positions Bad Bevensen as a hospitable tourist destination.
The four-day combination of various event formats is the strength of the Frühlingserwachen — theatre, live music, picnics, and cycling programmes within one weekend.
The complete programme has been published and includes the mentioned bands and activities.
