Germany's largest Hip-Hop festival in the City of Iron — three days of rap, reggae, and mega-machines
There is probably no other festival site in Europe that looks as spectacular as Ferropolis: Five gigantic bucket-wheel excavators from GDR times tower like metallic dinosaurs over a peninsula in the Gremminer See, embedded in a renatured opencast mining landscape. It is precisely here, in the "City of Iron" in the middle of the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt, that the splash! Festival takes place every year at the beginning of July — Germany's largest and most traditional Hip-Hop event.
splash! has been around since 1998. What began as a small open-air event is now the defining festival of the German-language rap scene: If you play here, you've made it. Marteria, Cro, Apache 207, Bonez MC, Haftbefehl, RIN, Trettmann, Shirin David, Sido, Bushido — they have all been here. In addition, there are international headliners from the USA every year, from Travis Scott to Cardi B to Lil Wayne, Future, and Tyga.
The Ferropolis site is an industrial monument and festival stage in one. The main stage (Mainstage) is located directly in front of the excavators. There is also the Soundsystem Stage, a reggae floor, smaller stages for DJs and underground acts, as well as various food courts and streetwear stalls. Camping areas are spread around the lake — those who prefer more comfort can book Premium Camping with permanent sanitary facilities.
Gräfenhainichen is strategically located between Halle (Saale), Leipzig, Dessau, and Lutherstadt Wittenberg — all reachable in under an hour. Visitors to splash! travel from all over Germany; special Deutsche Bahn trains and shuttles from the nearby stations of Gräfenhainichen or Bitterfeld bring the audience to the site.
splash! is loud, sweaty, crowded. It's hip, youthful, vibrant. Those who prefer conventional festival romance with campfires and acoustic sets will find nothing here. But those who love 808 bass in front of rusty steel giants, German drill on the Mainstage, and American trap stars at two in the morning on the second stage — will find their perfect weekend here. Probably Saxony-Anhalt's wildest summer festival classic.
The 2026 edition is sponsored by Sprite and brings together over 50 international and German-language acts on four stages. Festival tickets are already sold out, with only a few Premium tickets still available — an indicator of the continued high demand for the most traditional Hip-Hop festival in the country.
The highlight of 2026 is the Bonez & Friendz headline show, complemented by international superstars like Gunna, Ken Carson, Quavo, Ski Mask The Slump God, and Destroy Lonely. From Germany, acts include RIN, Haftbefehl, OG Keemo, SSIO, Vega, Sierra Kidd, Pajel, and Symba.
A total of over 54 confirmed acts. Further announcements will be made on splash-festival.de. Program subject to change.
Ferropolis is located about 7 km east of Gräfenhainichen. By train: ICE/IC to Bitterfeld or Lutherstadt Wittenberg, then RB to Gräfenhainichen + shuttle to the site. By car: A9 exit Dessau-Ost or Coswig. There are large parking areas on the festival grounds.
splash! offers several camping areas around Ferropolis: Standard Camping (included in the ticket), Premium Camping (for a fee, with better infrastructure), caravan pitches, and glamping options.
Festival tickets are usually sold out months before the event. Premium tickets are often available longer. Sales exclusively via splash-festival.de.
Only cashless payment is accepted on the entire site — top up on-site at top-up stations or via the app.
