Speyer Arts and Crafts Market in the Rathausinnenhof and Kulturhof Flachsgasse — four Advent weekends in 2026 with precious metal, wood, ceramics, textiles, and paper art
The Speyer Arts and Crafts Market takes place exclusively on the four Advent weekends — each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In 2026, these are the weekends of November 27–29, December 4–6, December 11–13, and December 18–20. This concentrated weekend structure distinguishes the Arts and Crafts Market from the large Christmas and New Year's Market, which runs continuously from November 23, 2026, to January 9, 2027.
The venues are two historic courtyards in Speyer's Old Town: the Rathausinnenhof and the Kulturhof Flachsgasse. Both offer a sheltered, semi-covered atmosphere where exhibitors can present their handmade pieces under better weather conditions than on an open street market. This courtyard atmosphere gives the Arts and Crafts Market a more intimate, curated feel.
The range of goods is clearly focused on arts and crafts. Precious Metal: Silver jewellery, gold jewellery with gemstones, rings, pendants, earrings — often in small editions. Wood: Turned bowls, carved figures, wooden toys, miniature furniture. Ceramics: Tableware, vases, sculptures, decorative pieces. Textiles: Handwoven fabrics, felt, knitwear, scarves. Paper Art: Bookbinders, calligraphers, printmakers. Leather and Glass complement the offerings.
The exhibitors come primarily from the wider region — Pfalz, Baden, Alsace, Swabian Jura, Rhine-Main area. They produce in their own workshops, allowing buyers to connect directly with the artists. This personal connection between producer and buyer is part of the concept and distinguishes the market from commercial Advent markets.
The Arts and Crafts Market runs parallel to the large Christmas and New Year's Market on Maximilianstraße. Visitors coming to the main market for mulled wine and bratwurst can make a detour to the Rathausinnenhof to find curated handmade gifts. Both events complement each other and make the Speyer Advent a multi-dimensional experience.
The 2026 edition runs over four weekends in the historic courtyards of Speyer's Old Town. Exact opening hours will be published by the organizer in advance.
The detailed program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the autumn. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years.
