Spesbacher Kerwe 2026 – traditional Palatinate Kirchweih in the municipality of Hütschenhausen in early October with sports, music, and party.
The Spesbacher Kerwe is the traditional Kirchweih of the Spesbach district in the municipality of Hütschenhausen in the Kaiserslautern district. From October 4th to 6th, 2026, the Kerwe will be celebrated – an important date in the club calendar of the Westrich community as autumn begins.
Spesbach belongs to the municipality of Hütschenhausen in the Ramstein-Miesenbach collective municipality. The small Westrich community maintains its village identity through active club life. The Kerwe is the social highlight of the year.
The Spesbacher Kerwe's program focuses on a balanced mix of sports, music, and party. Sporting events organized by local clubs open or accompany the festival, bands and DJs liven up the dance floor, and the typical Palatinate festival atmosphere connects all generations. This modern program concept sets the Spesbacher Kerwe apart from purely traditional village Kerwen, making it particularly attractive to younger visitors.
Despite the modern accents, the Kerwe follows the classic Palatinate rhythm: opening on Friday evening with the ceremonial keg tapping (Fassanstich), main Kerwe day on Sunday with a morning pint (Frühschoppen), lunch, a Kerwe parade in the afternoon, and a festival evening, plus a family program.
As in every Palatinate village, the Kerweborsch (Kerwe lads), Kerweparrer (Kerwe pastor), and Kerwestrauß (Kerwe bouquet) shape the festival events. The humorous and satirical Kerwerede (Kerwe speech) on Sunday afternoon is the highlight of the Kerwe.
The local clubs – the sports club, fire department, and others – provide the festival tent, bar, and catering. The menu features Palatinate classics: Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach), Bratwurst (fried sausage), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), Schwenkbraten (grilled pork neck), and fries. Draft beer and Palatinate wine accompany the festival weekend.
The Spesbacher Kerwe 2026 continues the annual tradition, combining classic Palatinate customs with modern program highlights of sports, music, and party.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven key points from previous years:
