The Lower Saxony State Stud Celle
The Lower Saxony State Stud Celle was founded in 1735 by King George II and has since been one of the most important centers of Hanoverian horse breeding. The stallions of the State Stud cover a large portion of the mares in Lower Saxony, thus shaping one of the most successful warm-blood breeding programs in the world. The historic grounds with their Classicist and Wilhelminian-era stables are a monument of national importance.
Three Days of Summer Festival
During the Sommerfest am Landgestüt, the stud opens its gates for three days, inviting equestrian sports fans, lifestyle enthusiasts, and families. Over 80 exhibitors present their products in the historic stables:
- Lifestyle and home accessories
- Fashion (equestrian and country house style, lifestyle brands)
- Equestrian sports – saddles, bridles, accessories, animal feed
- Handicrafts and gift items
- Gastronomy and culinary providers
Equestrian Sport and Demonstrations
The core of the event consists of demonstrations with stallions and horses from the State Stud: Quadrilles, dressage, show jumping, and driving demonstrations offer an insight into the diverse spectrum of Hanoverian breeding and training.
Family Activities
For families, there is pony riding, a children's program, hands-on activities, and gastronomic offerings – the Sommerfest is a classic family event that appeals to both horse enthusiasts and first-time visitors alike.
In Context: Young Breeders' World Championships
A few weeks prior, the Young Breeders' World Championships (July 16–19, 2026) will take place on the same grounds – another highlight of the State Stud's year.
