35th anniversary edition of the most charming open-air stage in the Baroque Garden of Wolfsburg Castle
The Sommerbühne am Schloss Wolfsburg was launched in 1992 and has since become a firm fixture of Wolfsburg's summer cultural calendar. With its 35th anniversary edition, the series looks back on an impressive tradition in 2026, setting new accents each year—from established artists to promising newcomers, from classical chamber music to modern pop and world music.
Wolfsburg Castle, the city's old fortress, houses a charming Baroque garden that serves as the open-air concert venue for the Sommerbühne. With its historic walls, geometrically designed park, and intimate scale, the garden creates an extraordinary concert atmosphere where music and audience connect in a special way. M2K (Wolfsburg's Institute for Art and Culture) oversees the series, actively connecting the castle with contemporary cultural work.
The five concerts in the 2026 programme span a wide musical spectrum: The Schlagzeugmafia opens on June 19th with their energetic percussion spectacle, Ticket to Happiness follows on June 20th with pop-soul, on June 25th an After-Work Party with DJ Mr. Confuse sets a relaxed mood, on June 26th The Voice Germany winner Malou Lovis presents her songs, and to conclude on June 27th, the Babbutzi Orkestar brings Balkan-Klezmer-Punk to the stage. Highlight: the big sing-along concert Kita Singt on June 21st with 550 children from 31 Wolfsburg kindergartens (free admission).
With its 35th edition, the Sommerbühne celebrates a remarkable anniversary, underscoring the importance of this open-air series for Wolfsburg's cultural life. This year's programme combines proven genres with special highlights, making the historic castle setting a vibrant meeting point for the city.
