Punk Rock in the Oderbruch

Wriezen is a small town in the Märkisch-Oderland district, in the extreme northeast of the state of Brandenburg, located between the Oderbruch and the Märkische Schweiz. The Schulzendorf district, where the punk rock weekend takes place, is a few kilometers north of the Wriezen town center — rural, quiet, far from the usual Berlin club scene. This contrast to the urban punk scene is precisely the character of the festival.

Two Days of Open-Air

The “Summer, Sun, Punk Rock” format stands for a compact weekend with punk rock bands, an open-air stage, and an atmosphere where the audience plays the main role. Those who feel reminded of festivals like “Rock im Moor” in the Prignitz are correct in their assessment: a small Brandenburg festival, by punk fans for punk fans, without mainstream sponsorship, with a lot of volunteer effort.

Märkisch-Oderland Region

Wriezen is located on the edge of the Märkische Schweiz, the oldest nature park region in Germany, and at the same time at the eastern gateway to the Oderbruch — the lowland on the Oder drained by Frederick the Great. Visitors to the festival often combine their weekend with a hiking or cycling tour in the surrounding area; many guests set up their tents on-site.

Local Engagement
