Since its founding in 2008, the Bingen Sculpture Triennial has been an internationally acclaimed public art festival. Every three years, Bingen am Rhein transforms into an open-air gallery for contemporary sculpture and installation for around five months. The 7th edition will take place in 2026 under the title Connection and Cohesion. Festival dates: May 16 to October 4, 2026. Official opening: May 16, 2026.

20 Artists, Kulturufer, and Churches

20 national and international artists will present sculptures and installations at various locations in the city. The main exhibition area is the expansive Bingen Kulturufer along the Rhine – an urban promenade offering perfect outdoor art settings with sweeping views of the World Heritage site and the Mouse Tower in the river. Additionally, works will be displayed in two Bingen churches, bridging the spectrum from the sacred to the secular.

Theme „Connection and Cohesion”

The theme of the 7th Triennial reflects a time when social bonds, solidarity, and the relationship between the individual and the community are being renegotiated in diverse ways. The invited artists respond with sculptures that explore themes of relationships, transitions, bridges, knots, and threads of connection. Materials range from classic bronze and steel to wood and stone, as well as contemporary mixed media and light installations.

Rhine-Main Support Program

A hallmark of the Triennial is its support program. With the support of the Leinemann Art Foundation, 3 artists from the Rhine-Main region are being funded: they will have the opportunity to create new works specifically for the Triennial and exhibit them in public spaces.

Bingen am Rhein as an Art Destination

With the Triennial, Bingen has been positioning itself as an art destination near the UNESCO World Heritage site for almost 20 years. The Triennial is a freely accessible part of the cityscape, making art an everyday encounter.
