Hodenhagen Shooting Club 1949
The Hodenhagen Shooting Club was founded in 1949 from the merger of two predecessor clubs, making it a typical product of the post-war era. More than 75 years of club history shape the association, whose grounds are located at Volksloh 5 on the outskirts of Hodenhagen. The Heide municipality is known regionally for the Serengeti Park, but the shooting tradition shapes social life at least as strongly.
Vogelschießen on May 31, 2026
The Vogelschießen on May 31 is one of the oldest shooting traditions in the region. A wooden bird is mounted on a pole in the shooting grounds. The shooters take turns, each taking a shot, and gradually the parts of the bird – wings, tail, crown, and finally the body – are shot off. Whoever takes the final shot and knocks the rest of the bird off the pole is proclaimed the new shooting king. The event is framed by musical accompaniment and a convivial gathering.
Damentrösterscheibe on June 10, 2026
The Damentrösterscheibe is a charming tradition in many shooting clubs: a shooting competition specifically for the club's ladies, often interpreted as a "consolation" for the male shooters who were not crowned king. The winner receives the "Damentröster" award and is also honored at the next festive parade.
Fasenschießen on June 17, 2026
The Fasenschießen on June 17 is another competition that underscores the diversity of shooting disciplines. It is a competition using pheasant targets (Fasen) on the shooting range.
Wagen- und Ballwurftouren on June 28, 2026
On June 28, 2026, the Wagen- und Ballwurftouren will take place – a rather social event where competitions focusing on skill (Ballwurftour) and team rides (Wagentour) shape club life outside of pure shooting disciplines.
