Summer Schützenfest of SV Wissingen in the Bissendorf district with king's shooting and parade
SV Wissingen has been preserving shooting sports traditions in the southeastern Osnabrück region for generations. Its Schützenfest is not just a club festival but an integral part of a dense network of clubs and village life that shapes the identity of the Bissendorf district. From the eve of the festival to Sunday afternoon, the Schützenhaus and its surroundings on Niederberger Mark are transformed into a festival grounds with a marquee, shooting ranges, and catering areas.
The highlight of the festival is the king's shooting, where the new monarch among the marksmen is determined. The subsequent proclamation of the king, the king's dinner, and the grand parade through the district on Sunday are among the most emotional moments. The parade is accompanied by a marching band or music corps. Traditional stops are made at significant points, such as the home of the new royal couple.
In addition to the shooting program, the Schützenfest Wissingen focuses on social highlights: The festival opens with a dance on Friday evening, Saturday features the king's shooting and a dance evening, and Sunday includes the parade and the king's dinner. Various program points are aimed at the youngest guests on Family Day. The morning pint (Frühschoppen) on Sunday or Monday morning concludes the festival in a relaxed atmosphere.
The festival opens on Friday evening with the assembly of the marksmen and a festive welcome. Saturday is dedicated to the king's shooting, the proclamation of the king, and a grand dance evening in the festival tent. Sunday features the parade through the village and the king's dinner for the club members.
The program follows the classic stages of Lower Saxony's marksmen's traditions. Live music in the festival tent, regional catering, and a family day on Sunday afternoon round off the weekend.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years: bird shooting or king's shooting, king's dinner, parade, dance evening, family day, and Frühschoppen.
