The 5th Season in Ammerland
The Schützenfest Wiefelstede is one of the largest and oldest marksmen's festivals in Ammerland — and is affectionately known as the "5th Season in Ammerland". For over 130 years, the Schützenverein Wiefelstede has organized the festival, which attracts more than 10,000 visitors to the Schützenhof at Gristeder Straße 9 every year. Few club festivals in Northern Germany achieve this level of appeal.
2026 Edition — Four Days of Program
The 2026 edition runs from Friday, August 7th, to Monday, August 10th, 2026. Starting Friday at 7 PM, the grand festival evening with dancing and live music begins. Saturday, Sunday, and Monday feature the traditional marksmen's program, starting at 2 PM each day — with parades, shooting competitions, King's dinner, and festival ball.
Kick-off Already in Advance
The Wiefelstede Schützenfest begins with pre-event classics that are as legendary as the festival itself:
- August 1st: King's Shoot — determining the new King and Queen couples
- August 6th (Wednesday before the festival), 6 PM: Beer crate stacking — combining athletic courage and alcoholic height tolerance. One of the most popular pre-events
Program from August 7th to 10th
Four days of a full marksmen's program:
- Friday: from 7 PM Festival evening with live music and dancing
- Saturday: from 2 PM Festival parade, King's proclamation, dancing
- Sunday: Family Day with Frühschoppen (morning pint), King's dinner, children's program
- Monday: Marksmen's Frühschoppen, relaxed closing with live bands
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Food stalls, carousels, and snack stands around the Schützenhof.
