Volkmarsdorf — District of Groß Twülpstedt

Volkmarsdorf is a district of the municipality Groß Twülpstedt in the Samtgemeinde Velpke. The small, village-like settlement is located in the northeastern Helmstedt district near the border with the Wolfsburg region. Despite its manageable size, Volkmarsdorf has a vibrant club life, supported by the shooting club, the fire department, and other associations.

Schützenverein Volkmarsdorf

The Schützenverein Volkmarsdorf is the organizer of the Schützenfest and a pillar of village life. Men and women of all generations are involved in the club. The annual organization of the Schützenfest is the club's biggest achievement of the year and is managed on a voluntary basis.

Four Days of Festivities

The Schützenfest lasts for four days — from Friday, June 26th to Monday, June 29th, 2026. This unusually long duration shows the high importance the festival enjoys in the village community. Each day has its own character — from the opening, the King's shoot, and the parade to the relaxed conclusion on Monday.

King's Shoot and King's Proclamation

The centerpiece of every Schützenfest is the King's shoot. Whoever takes the best shot becomes the Shooting King and, along with his court, leads the club's social activities for a year. The ceremonial King's proclamation is one of the emotional highlights of the festival weekend.

Parade through Volkmarsdorf

The traditional parade winds through the streets of Volkmarsdorf. Shooters in uniform, marching bands, music groups, friendly clubs, and the fire department march through the decorated village with music.

Festival Tent and Dance Evenings

The evening dance and program events take place in the festival tent. With a live band or DJ, the King's dance, and catering, the social gathering becomes a highlight. Friendly clubs also visit and enhance the festive atmosphere.
