Summer marksmen's festival of SV Schwanewede with garland tying, king's shoot, and parade
The 105th edition of the Schützenfest marks a significant date for the SV Schwanewede. The club has been preserving shooting sports traditions for generations and organizes the festival weekend as the central club event of the year. The Schützenhalle Schwanewede provides a suitable setting for the festival tent, shooting range, and catering.
The garland tying on Friday evening (July 17, 2026, 6 p.m.) is a special eve-of-festival tradition of the Schwanewede Schützenfest. Members and friends of the club gather to jointly prepare the decorative elements for the parade — oak wreaths, garlands, and flag decorations. The conviviality of this preparation has been part of the festival's character for decades.
The official Schützenfest begins on Saturday, July 18, at 2 p.m. with the assembly of the marksmen. Over the weekend, the king's shoot, king's proclamation, grand parade through Schwanewede, and a dance evening with live music in the Schützenhalle will follow. Sunday concludes the festival with the king's dinner and morning pint.
The garland tying on Friday prepares the festival. Saturday brings the official festival start, Sunday the main program, and Monday the conclusion.
The 105th edition is an occasion for special recognition of the club's centuries-old history.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years: garland tying, assembly, king's shoot, parade, dance evening, king's dinner, and morning pint.
