Schützenfest Scherenbostel — Tradition before Pentecost

Wedemark, a large municipality in the northern Hannover region with numerous districts, cultivates a particularly vibrant shooting festival culture. In addition to the Pentecost Schützenfest in Bissendorf, there are other shooting festivals in the districts — one of them is the Schützenfest Scherenbostel, traditionally celebrated on the weekend before Pentecost. The organizer is the Schützenverein Scherenbostel, which lovingly maintains this decades-old tradition in the small district with great commitment.

The Schützenhaus Fuhrenkamp

The Schützenhaus Fuhrenkamp 5 in Scherenbostel is the traditional venue. The festival tent is set up here, receptions and dance evenings take place here, and amusement rides and food stalls create a classic folk festival atmosphere. The Schützenhaus itself serves as the club house and social center for the club's activities — a typical example of the close connection between a club house and a Schützenfest, as is maintained in many districts of Lower Saxony.

Weekend before Pentecost

The festival date on the weekend before Pentecost gives the Schützenfest Scherenbostel a special character. While the big Pentecost Schützenfest takes place a week later in the Wedemark district of Bissendorf, Scherenbostel opens the Pentecost week with its own festival weekend. Whit Monday traditionally marks the main day — with a festival service, a grand parade through Scherenbostel, and the crowning of the new monarchs.

Like all local Schützenfeste, the festival in Scherenbostel thrives on the voluntary commitment of club members, friendly clubs, and numerous helpers.
