Grand Volksfest of the Barum Shooting Club with shooting competitions, festival tent, and laying of wreaths
Barum, with its approximately 600 inhabitants, is one of Salzgitter's smaller districts but belongs to the municipal district of Lesse-Barum-Lobmachtersen-Cramme. The Barum Shooting Club (Schieß-Club Barum e.V.) is an important social institution here and hosts the traditional Schützenfest annually. The club, located Am See in Barum, is a member of the Salzgitter District Shooting Association (Kreisschützenverband Salzgitter) and participates in the City Marksmen's Day (Stadtschützentag).
The Barum Schützenfest combines sporting tradition with a Volksfest atmosphere. Shooting competitions in various disciplines form the core of the sporting program, while the festival tent with live music, dancing, and catering ensures a convivial mood. The laying of wreaths at the memorial is an integral part of the program, honoring the fallen of past generations.
The location of the shooting range Am See lends a special character to the festive day. The rural surroundings and the close-knit village community create a warm atmosphere where club members and guests alike feel welcome.
The 2026 edition continues the annual tradition. The Barum Shooting Club organizes the festival independently with the support of other local clubs and the community. Families from Barum and the surrounding districts of Lesse, Beinum, Lobmachtersen, and Cramme are cordially invited to participate in the festive day.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
