Schützenfest Rüschendorf

Rüschendorf Shooting Club since 1956

The Rüschendorf Shooting Club was founded in 1956—in the post-war era—and has since been the central traditional event of the Damme district of the same name. With over 65 years of club history, the association belongs to the younger generation of shooting clubs in the Oldenburger Münsterland region but has established itself as a firm fixture in the festival calendar.

Rüschendorf as a District of Damme

Rüschendorf is one of the districts of Damme with its own village structure, its own parish neighborhood, and its own club identity. Despite being incorporated into the city of Damme, the village character has been preserved, and the annual Schützenfest, alongside the Kirmes (funfair) and traditional festivals, is one of the most important social dates in the district.

Third Weekend of July — Coordinated Date

The anchoring on the third weekend of July is well coordinated with the surrounding clubs. The Schützenfest Holdorf also takes place on the same date—both clubs maintain their own festival traditions and coordinate with the other Schützenfests in the region. In 2026, the date falls on July 18th, 19th, and 20th.

Classic Three-Day Club Festival

The festival program follows the classic three-day Schützenfest structure: Saturday opening and dance evening, Sunday festival service and parade with king's shooting and king's proclamation, Monday morning pint and closing. Club members, friendly shooters from the Damme city area, and guests from the region participate.
