Schützenfest Rönnelmoor — Customs in Brake's District

The Schützenfest Rönnelmoor is one of the traditional club festivals in the town of Brake (Unterweser). The Rönnelmoor district maintains its own marksmen's tradition with its own club, its own royal titles, and its own festival calendar. According to the Wesermarsch Marksmen's Association's 2026 calendar, the festival will take place on August 22 and 23.

Two Festival Days with a Classic Schedule

The Schützenfest lasts for two days and follows the classic schedule of North-German shooting traditions. It begins with the muster, a marksmen's march, and the King's Shoot, where the new marksmen's king is determined among the eligible members. The festival parade, King's Proclamation, King's Dinner, and dance evening characterize the festival weekend.

Festival Parade through Rönnelmoor

The festival parade through Rönnelmoor — accompanied by a marching band or brass band — is one of the emotional highlights. Friendly marksmen's clubs and decorated floats join in, and residents decorate houses and streets with birch branches and flags.

King's Dinner and Dance Evening

The King's Dinner is the social highlight with speeches, awards, and the handover of the royal title. Afterwards, a live band takes over the festival tent, and the dance evening invites guests to celebrate together late into the night.

Family Day and Sociability

A Family Day with a children's program, cake buffet, and games complements the program. The Schützenfest is not just an event of the marksmen's club, but a meeting point for the entire rural community, friendly clubs, and guests from the neighboring districts of Hammelwarden, Golzwarden, and Brake.
