Weekend Schützenfest of the Association of 1857 at the Radenbeck Shooting Range
Founded in 1857, the Radenbeck Shooting Association is one of the most traditional associations in the Wittingen region. Over 165 years of club history demonstrate an unbroken connection between the villagers and the shooting tradition. The annual Schützenfest is the highlight of the club's year and one of the most important dates in Radenbeck's event calendar.
Radenbeck is one of the districts of the town of Wittingen in the Gifhorn district. Like many villages in the region, it maintains a vibrant community life, with the Shooting Association at its center. The village has preserved its own identity and celebrates the Schützenfest as the central event of the village year.
The Radenbeck Shooting Range is the association's home and the venue for the grand festival. With shooting ranges, a meeting room, and the necessary infrastructure, it provides the appropriate setting for a classic Schützenfest. A festival tent, food stalls, and carousels are set up on the adjacent festival grounds.
From Friday, July 24th to Sunday, July 26th, 2026, the celebration will last for three days. This late summer date distinguishes Radenbeck from the many Pentecost and early June events of other villages, giving the festival its own niche in the event calendar. Opening on Friday, King's Shoot and King's Ball on Saturday, parade and Family Day on Sunday.
The highlight of the festival is the competition for the royal title. The new monarch is proclaimed in a solemn ceremony, and the handover of the king's chain with the medals of past kings takes place in the festival tent. With almost 170 years of club history, the king's chain is a valuable club archive.
Sunday brings the highlight for young visitors with Family Day: children's program, carousels, food stalls, and offerings specifically tailored for families. This child-friendly approach ensures the succession of generations within the association and encourages young families to visit the festival grounds.
The late summer date at the end of July gives the festival its own niche in the Schützenfest calendar. Those who have already attended other Schützenfeste in spring and early summer will find the perfect conclusion to the Schützenfest season here.
Friendly associations from the Wittingen region will march along in the parade on Sunday, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Shooting Association in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points:
Radenbeck Shooting Range, 29378 Wittingen-Radenbeck (Gifhorn District).
By car via the A39, exit Wittingen, then follow signs for Radenbeck. Parking available at the Shooting Range.
