One-day Schützenfest with ball and Kapelle Popp at the Dörphuus
Nindorf is a small community in the municipality of Hollenstedt in the western Harburg district. The Nindorf Marksmen's Association forms the backbone of village life and uses the Dörphuus – the village community center – as its club house and venue. The annual Schützenfest is the highlight of the club's year, bringing together marksmen families for a concentrated festive day.
Unlike the multi-day Schützenfeste of larger clubs in the municipality, Nindorf opts for a one-day format. This makes the festival particularly intense and allows for full concentration on the essentials: proclamation, festive procession, king's dinner, and festive ball. This compactness is typical of smaller North German marksmen's clubs that preserve traditions in a manageable setting.
The Anschießen on Sunday, May 10, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., takes place a week before the actual Schützenfest. It serves as preparation and offers marksmen the opportunity to test their accuracy. The results achieved here form an important basis for the decisions on the festive day.
On Saturday, May 16, 2026, the program begins at 8 a.m. with the proclamation of the new majesties at the Dörphuus. This early hour is traditional and underscores the ceremonial character of the act. Later in the day, a festive procession, the king's dinner, and social gathering follow, culminating in the festive ball in the evening.
The festive ball in the evening is hosted by Kapelle Popp, a dance band popular in the region for decades. With classic dance music from the repertoire of North German festive balls, they provide the musical accompaniment for the main event. Thus, the Schützenfest Nindorf joins the tradition of North German dance culture, which is cultivated at marksmen's balls and club festivals.
The 2026 edition continues the one-day format. From the early morning proclamation ceremony to the late-night dance with Kapelle Popp, a clearly structured program guides through the festive day.
The Anschießen on May 10, 2026, serves as competition preparation and is part of the festive rhythm.
