Pentecost Village Shooting Festival in Steinhorst-Räderloh
Founded in 1925, the Schützenverein Lüsche-Räderloh is one of the older shooting clubs in the Gifhorn district. Over the decades, it has evolved from a purely sport-shooting association into a community meeting point that goes far beyond the competitive spirit. The close integration with the Steinhorst village community, with the nearby Hankensbüttel Shooting Association, and with friendly clubs in the region ensures the vibrancy of club life. The youth department cultivates young talent with light rifle and air rifle training.
Unlike many shooting festivals in the region, Lüsche-Räderloh is firmly linked to the Pentecost weekend. Several generations have known the festival as a reliable early summer date when former villagers return and relatives come together from near and far. Ticket sales for the dance evenings traditionally begin months in advance and are usually sold out within a few days.
The event kicks off with the Schützenball on Saturday evening, followed by the assembly of the marksmen on Sunday morning, competitions, and the proclamation of the king. The highlight is the grand parade on Whit Monday through the decorated streets of Lüsche and Räderloh, accompanied by marching bands and friendly clubs. The festivities conclude with the King's Dinner and honors for deserving members.
Steinhorst and its districts lie on the southern edge of the Südheide Nature Park, nestled in a landscape of mixed forests, meadows, and small streams. Its location away from major traffic routes makes the festival an authentic experience far from mass tourism.
The 2026 edition continues the club's hundred-year tradition, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2025 with a particularly festive program. The festival logistics are well-rehearsed: the Schützenhaus with its adjoining hall forms the center, and the forecourt becomes the festival grounds with catering stands.
The dance evenings are traditionally performed by regional bands. Ticket sales run in good time before the Pentecost weekend; experience shows that tickets sell out quickly. The parade on Whit Monday usually attracts several hundred guests who line the decorated village streets.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
