The Bürgerschützenverein Lathen is the central marksmen's association of the Lathen community. As a Bürgerschützenverein, it upholds the town's marksmen's traditions — unlike district and patronal associations, the BSV sees itself as an association for the entire Lathen citizenry.

Lathen is the main town of the Samtgemeinde Lathen in the northern Emsland — a region with a vibrant rural-Catholic club culture. Several marksmen's associations shape club life, and the BSV Lathen is one of the most important among them.

One-Day Concept

The 2026 Schützenfest is designed as a one-day festival — a concentrated program from afternoon until midnight. This compact format has its advantages: it brings together the entire club life on one day and offers all interested parties the opportunity to experience the complete festival without the effort being spread over several days.

Program Highlights

• From 1:00 PM: Festival opening at the festival grounds Niederlangener Straße 249
• Picking up the King and march to the festival grounds
• Bird shooting / King shooting
• King's dinner
• Festival parade
• King's proclamation
• Dance evening until midnight (end approx. 12 AM)

The venue is the festival grounds at Niederlangener Straße 249 in Lathen — the traditional festival home of the Bürgerschützenverein.
