St. Hubertus Marksmen's Association

The St. Hubertus Langwege marksmen's association is the marksmen's association of the Dinklage district of Langwege. As is customary in the Catholic-influenced Oldenburger Münsterland, the association bears the name of its patron saint — St. Hubertus, the patron saint of hunters and marksmen. This naming points to the close connection between church tradition and the marksmen's tradition, which has grown in the region for centuries.

The Schützenfest traditionally takes place on the Pentecost weekend. In 2026, Pentecost falls on May 23rd to 25th — accordingly, the Schützenfest is planned from Saturday, May 23rd to Whit Monday, May 25th. Pentecost, as a religiously significant festival day, lends the Schützenfest a special dignity that is valued in the Catholic communities of the Oldenburger Münsterland.

At Küpers Busch

The venue is the Schützenplatz Am Küpers Busch in the Langwege district. A rural festival ground, often surrounded by fields and forests — the typical backdrop for a district Schützenfest in the Oldenburger Münsterland. A festival tent, shooting range, and dance floor will be set up; the atmosphere is personal and familiar.

Classic Program

The program follows the proven structure of a North German Schützenfest:

• Saturday: Assembly of the marksmen, opening ceremony, first evening festival with dancing
• Pentecost Sunday: Festival service, parade through Langwege, king's shooting competition, proclamation of the new marksmen's king, grand evening festival
• Pentecost Monday: Frühshoppen (morning pint), king's dinner, family program, closing

King's Shooting and Proclamation

The highlight is the king's shooting competition, where the members of the marksmen's association determine the new marksmen's king. Whoever takes the decisive shot reigns for one year — with all the honors and duties of the office. The proclamation is one of the most emotional moments of the festival.

Langwege as a District of Dinklage

Langwege is one of the rural districts of the town of Dinklage. With its own identity, established structures, and a close-knit village community, Langwege is a typical example of the polycentric urban structure of the Oldenburger Münsterland. The annual Schützenfest strengthens the district's identity and connects residents across generations.
