Farming Community Schützenfest in Herbergen

The Schützenfest of KSV Herbergen is the annual traditional festival of the Herbergen farming community — one of the small but traditional farming communities in the Artland municipality. The KSV (Kriegerverein und Schützenverein - Warriors' and Marksmen's Club) cultivates the community spirit of the farming settlement through the Schützenfest.

Three Days on Pentecost Weekend

The 2026 edition runs from Saturday, May 23, to Monday, May 25 (Whit Monday). This places the festival among the many Lower Saxony Schützenfeste held on the Pentecost weekend. The venue is the Schützenhalle Rüskenbrink in Menslage.

Classic Schützenfest Program

As is customary for farming community Schützenfeste in the Artland region, the festival features a clear program of traditions: bird shooting, crowning of the new king and queen, festive parade through the farming community, king's dinner, dance evening with a live band, and a morning pint (Frühschoppen). Fanfare and pipe bands accompany the traditional elements.

Schützenhalle Rüskenbrink

The Schützenhalle Rüskenbrink serves as the year-round club center and is the main stage during the Schützenfest. In Lower Saxony, the Schützenhalle is often a multi-purpose building used by various local clubs, making it a central meeting point for the village community.

Menslage in the Artland

Menslage is located in the Artland municipality and is characterized by agriculture. The region is rich in marksmen's traditions — in addition to Veer-Burskupper and Herbergen, other farming communities also hold their own Schützenfeste.
