One-day Schützenfest in the Ilten district of Sehnde with Matjes dish from 12 p.m. and Shanty Choir Blaue Jungs from Bolzum
Ilten belongs to the town of Sehnde in the southeast of the Hannover region. The annual Schützenfest is traditionally celebrated on the Ilten festival grounds; however, in 2026, the club is moving to the club grounds on Hugo-Remmert-Straße because a new school building is being erected on the previous festival grounds. This exceptional situation shapes the 2026 festival with a slightly different, more intimate format.
A special feature of the Ilten Schützenfest is the Matjes dish, which is served from 12 p.m. onwards. The fresh Matjes with side dishes (boiled potatoes, beans, apple-onion sauce) has been part of its identity for years and attracts guests from the neighboring districts of Sehnde and Bolzum.
The Shanty Choir 'Blaue Jungs' from Bolzum provides the musical accompaniment. With classic sailor songs, shanties, and maritime sounds, the choir gives the festival its special flair.
Sehnde is a town with numerous districts where club life is deeply rooted. The Schützenfest in Ilten fits into the dense network of local traditional festivals.
The festival adapts to the alternative location in 2026 and retains its characteristic mix of Matjes, Shanty Choir, and Schützen tradition.
The exact times for the Shanty Choir and proclamation will be announced by the club.
