Traditional Schützenfest of the St. Hubertus Rifle Association Holthausen, a district of Damme in the Oldenburg Münsterland
The St. Hubertus e.V. Holthausen Rifle Association is the central traditional customs club of Damme's Holthausen district. Like all rifle associations in the Oldenburg Münsterland, it is part of a long tradition that combines faith, homeland, and conviviality. The patron saint is St. Hubertus, the namesake saint of many rifle and hunting associations in Catholic Lower Saxony.
In addition to the classic festival grounds, the Ludwig-Windthorst-Haus in Holthausen plays a central role in the festival. The educational and conference center, named after the famous Catholic Reichstag member, traditionally hosts the festive brunch buffet, which sets the mood for club members and guests on the second festival day.
Two well-rehearsed cover bands provide the live music in the festival tent. On Friday evening, the band Suntime heats things up with a mix of pop hits, Schlager, and party classics. On Saturday evening, the Black Horses take the stage with country, rock, and dance music. Both bands are firmly established in the Lower Saxony rifle and festival tent scene and attract a cross-generational audience every year.
Highlights of the Schützenfest are the traditional parade through Holthausen with rifle companies, music bands, drum corps, and friendly associations, as well as the king's shooting, in which the new royal couple for the coming club year is determined. The King and Queen, Prince and Princess are then solemnly proclaimed and honored in the festival tent.
The rifle association will publish the detailed 2026 program with times shortly before the event on its club website. The general schedule follows the proven two-day structure with a dance evening on Friday and a parade on Saturday.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
