Four-day folk and marksmen's festival of the Hollenstedt Marksmen's Association of 1877
The Hollenstedt Marksmen's Association was founded in 1877 and looks back on an almost 150-year history. For over five generations, the association has shaped the marksmen's tradition in Hollenstedt and developed the annual Schützenfest into an indispensable part of village life.
Friday to Monday forms the framework for the festival. Friday opens with the king's shooting and the first dance evenings in the marquee. Saturday brings the Grand Tattoo and the King's Ball, Sunday the festive parade and the Family Day, and Monday the festive conclusion with a morning pint and proclamation.
In addition to the classic club program, the Schützenfest Hollenstedt attracts with its folk festival component: carousels, dodgems, shooting galleries, Ferris wheel – a typical Northern German funfair character shapes the festival grounds. Families, children, and showmen will find a classic summer experience here.
The Grand Tattoo on Saturday evening is one of the emotional highlights. In the encroaching darkness, torchbearers and the marching band enter, traditional music sounds, and the marksmen kings are honored. A moment that unites the village community in silent respect.
On Sunday, the festive parade with marksmen, marching bands, and guest clubs marches through Hollenstedt. Afterwards, the marksmen's family celebrates the grand King's Ball in the marquee with a live band, dancing, and shared catering until late into the night. Monday concludes with a morning pint and the ceremonial proclamation of the new majesties.
The 2026 edition continues the association's nearly 150-year tradition. Folk festival and marksmen's festival combine in Hollenstedt to form a four-day summer highlight for the entire municipality.
The amusement rides and showmen form the core of the folk festival, while the marquee with live music and the King's Ball represent the typical marksmen's festival culture.
