Schützenfest of the Haselünne Stadtmark-Siedlung association on the second weekend of July — King's shooting and tradition in the Hasestadt
The Stadtmark-Siedlung is a residential area of the city of Haselünne and, with the Schützenverein Haselünne Stadtmark-Siedlung e.V., is home to an independent traditional customs association. The association sees itself as a custodian of local marksmen's tradition and organizes the annual Schützenfest as a central event for the community of the Stadtmark-Siedlung. With its date on the second weekend of July, the association has a firm place in the Haselünne festival calendar, which extends from the Schützenbruderschaft (Pentecost festival) through the Stadtmark at the end of June to the Stadtmark-Siedlung in July.
The 2026 festival spans two days, from Saturday, July 11th, to Sunday, July 12th. Saturday is dedicated to the festive opening with the assembly of the marksmen, a parade through the Stadtmark-Siedlung, and a grand Schützenball in the evening. Sunday is dedicated to the king's shooting, the king's proclamation, the king's dinner, and the king's dance. Catering is provided in the festival tent, and local music bands ensure the festive accompaniment.
The king's shooting is the central sporting and symbolic highlight of the Schützenfest. During the shooting at the wooden bird, the marksmen compete for the title of king. Whoever shoots down the last splinter is proclaimed king and chooses his queen. The new royal couple will represent the Schützenverein Haselünne Stadtmark-Siedlung for one year at guest festivals and events of friendly Haselünne associations.
The Hasestadt Haselünne is home to at least four independent marksmen's associations — the Schützenbruderschaft (Pentecost festival), Stadtmark (end of June), Stadtmark-Siedlung (second weekend of July), Eltern (June) — thus creating a particularly dense festival culture. The mutual visits and joint activities of the associations are an expression of a lively customs culture deeply rooted in Haselünne.
The two days of festivities offer space for the classic program elements of an Emsland Schützenfest. The exact program schedule will be announced by the association in advance.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
