About Schützenfest Hagstedt-Halter

The Schützenbruderschaft St. Peter & Paul Hagstedt-Halter e.V. of 1806 is one of the oldest shooting fraternities in the entire Oldenburger Münsterland and has been celebrating its traditions in the Visbek districts of Hagstedt and Halter for over 200 years. The 2026 Schützenfest extends over the main festival from Saturday, June 27th to Monday, June 29th, and the preceding King and Prince shooting on Sunday, June 14th. A parade, proclamation of the king, dance evenings, and the King's Ball on the festival grounds gather fraternity members, friendly clubs, the village community, and guests from the entire Vechta district. The patron saints are the apostles Peter and Paul, to whom the nearby parish church is also dedicated.

Schützenbruderschaft St. Peter & Paul Hagstedt-Halter of 1806

The Schützenbruderschaft St. Peter & Paul Hagstedt-Halter e.V. of 1806 is one of the oldest shooting fraternities in the Oldenburger Münsterland. Founded in 1806 – shortly after the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation – the fraternity has survived more than two centuries of club history and is today one of the most traditional customs associations in the region.

Two Visbek Districts, One Fraternity

The fraternity unites the two Visbek districts of Hagstedt and Halter within a common club structure. This merger of historically independent villages into a single shooting fraternity is not uncommon in the predominantly Catholic Oldenburger Münsterland and is an expression of pragmatic village solidarity beyond administrative borders.

King and Prince Shooting on June 14th

A special feature is the separation between the King and Prince Shooting (Sunday, June 14th, 2026) and the Main Festival (Saturday, June 27th to Monday, June 29th). This temporal decoupling allows for a focused sporting determination of the royal court on a quiet preliminary date and relieves the actual festival weekend of competition logistics.

Main Festival June 27th to 29th

The actual Main Festival from June 27th to 29th is then purely a celebration: festival ceremony, parade on Sunday, proclamation of the king, King's Ball, and a farewell brunch on Monday. The previously determined royal court is introduced with great festivity and honored in the festival tent.

Schützenfest Hagstedt-Halter — edition 2026

The 2026 Schützenfest Hagstedt-Halter of the over 200-year-old Schützenbruderschaft St. Peter & Paul is divided into two dates: King and Prince Shooting on Sunday, June 14th, 2026, as the sporting determination event, followed by the Main Festival from Saturday, June 27th to Monday, June 29th, 2026, on the festival grounds in the Visbek districts of Hagstedt and Halter. Festival ceremony, parade, proclamation of the king, King's Ball, and farewell brunch structure the main weekend. Festival grounds are freely accessible, dance evenings and King's Ball according to club prices.
